The Blueprint 3 is the 11th album & the last installment in The Blueprint trilogy by rapper Jay-Z. The contrasting colour scheme is simple but effective as it makes the instruments/equipment stand out & you aren't drawn away by many colours. There isn't much info on the advert which would usually be seen as bad but since Jay-Z is a well known rapper, the boldness & simplicity of the poster could be representing him. The simplicity could be seen as a risk because people may not appeal to the audience & could draw em away from buying the album. Saying that the simplicity could be good because he's not giving away to much about the album which will draw in the audience as they will be intrigued as to what is to come with the album. The black writing on the white/grey background makes it easily visible for it to be read. Also the different fonts & sizes are used to highlight the key aspects of the album such as; the artists' name in bold, the name of the album, the release date, the artists' website if you want more info about him & the album & the record label he's on.
The images on the advert are a montage of five edited images to coincide with the title of the album ‘only by the night’. The most noticeable effect that features on the advert is the inclusion of the four band members and the night owl as one character. The creation of the montage still allows a quarter of each corner to each individual band member, which will appeal to the target audience. The appeal of the advert to the target audience is strengthened by the inclusion of the owl, which denotes a less obvious meaning and requires the viewers to look beyond the obvious meaning of the advert. The advert is successful in appealing to the target audience and the style of the montage requires a deeper thought about the album, which is likely to lead to sales as the target audience is likely to want to know why the owl has been included. The title ‘Only by the Night’ is in the same green font as the image to ensure there is a consistent theme throughout the advertisement. The green colour has been used to create a night vision effect, which is implied by the title of the album.
