Through also studying media at AS level as well as A2 and being apart of the production work, it goes unnoticable that the whole nature of the task, style of filming and editing and the amount of work differs a great amount. At AS level, we were given a preliminary task to allow us to pepare and gain an idea of the different kinds of shots and angles that we would want to use in our film opening, which provided us with a headstart. We were also not allowed to begin shooting our actual film opening untill this task was complete which edged us to get it done. We was not given a preliminary task this year providing that we should have already been familiar with the different types of shots and angles. However, the amount of work and effort put in to learning the different types of shots and angles reinforces the idea that we were all new to everything and made it less of a chellenge for this year as we would already have gained the knowledge from AS taking one weight off our shoulders.
Another way in which the production work differs to AS is our knowledge of the programme 'Final cut pro' which is what we used for the editing process of our pieces at both AS and A2. As we were unfamiliar with the feautures and how to use the programme at AS, this added pressure to complete our piece for the given deadline in comparison to A2 as we already had the knowledge instilled in us, allowing us to push further and experiment new things and expand on our ideas. As Alicia played a huge part in the editing process, I would assume that it took dedication and alot of time and effort from her as she was new to it all, having not previously studied media at AS. From my own personal aspect, I believe that production work at AS appeared to be more challenging hence the fact that we were beginners of it all.
The nature of the whole task also differed from AS as we were faced with the challenge of re-creating a music video to a chosen song including fitting the timing and the editing to the song. This in my opinion was more challenging as the nature of the AS task was to come up with our own film opening to a specific genre enabling us to fit the editing and timing to our own pace. However it can be argued that alot more focus had to be put into the AS task as we were creating something new from scratch compared to the motive of the song that we had at A2. The research and planning element however was similar as we had to research products within our genre to be inspired by for our own piece. At both AS and A2 this element took alot of effort and being faced with reaching tight deadlines edged us to get it out the way in order to begin working on our own pieces. However the I believe that at AS it was more structured.
The style of filming also differed from AS to A2 as the whole nature of the task was different. With creating a film opening at AS it was the focus of getting clear and precise continuity shots and making sure the filming was done so that it could be edited to create a flow throughout the film opening. At A2 in particular with our music video, the focus was to get a range of shots and angles and getting master shots of each artist in order to jump back and forth between each of them to create a music video. I would say that the style of filming was morechallenging at AS which may be different for different people depending on the concept of their video. However, in relation to our music video the shots were more simplistic at A2 as we were guided by the equipment of the green screening room and did not have a narrative in comparison to the nature of the task at AS.
Overall, I personally believe that both AS and A2 production work brought challenges hence the nature of the task was different. We had to adapt to the challenge of learning new things in both years, however the increased amount of knowledge in most people from AS provided us with the guidance to be able to develop ideas at A2.
