3rd Session Of Green Screening (24th November)

In this session we took alot of videos of the performers using a variety of angles & a couple props. One of the props we used was a sofa, this was used as it gave us a chance to have all three of the performees in the same shot. While we was doin this we took close up takes of each performer performing their part of the song, so we could have more shots to choose from & to put in the video. Also we never used the green screen when using the sofa but instead used the wall, dimmed the lights & used a couple lights to shine on the performers. This allowed us to focus our concentration on the performers as they take up most of the camera & gives it a casual feel.

Furthermore Elicia had written out what the performers should do for each verse/chorus which helped structure what we was going to do throughout this session without wasting time.
To summarise we took alot of takes of each of the performers using different angles & shots such as close up, medium & long shots.

What We Are Planning To Do

24th Nov 2011

As the deadline is drawing near, we are sticking to the idea that most of our filming will take place in the media studio using the green screen also using the shots we taken in salford quays and then these will be edited afterwards to create our final video. We already have most of the footage for each artist that will appear in the video but still need to get together some final shots.

2nd Session Of Green Screening

In our last session of using the green screen we done some takes of the song in total . 2 of Kane (Kanye West) including a master shot , 2 of Havana (Rihanna) & 2 of Emmanuel (Kid Cudi). For one of the videos of each performer we filmed completely in a close up shot on camera 1 while the other videos were filmed using long shots, alternating between camera 2 & 3 to give different angles of the performers.

During filming we used some shadow effects, we hope to combine some of the videos so that while Kanye is rapping, we have Rihanna or Kid Cudi appear next to him in a shadow effect sort of way.

Changes In Lead Role

We changed our original idea of having a male lead for the video to a female but now we have reverted our decision back to have a male lead at a very late time as the dead line is next week so it's a risk but if we can find a male lead in time then we will be able to finish the video with a male lead. Our main reason for this is because the main lead is a male & he has a dominant voice throuhout the song which would be better shown with a male performer.

So our final performers are: Kanye West - Kane
Rihanna - Havana
Kid Cudi - Emmanuel

Changes In Using Filming Locations

Our original filming locations were The Trafford Centre, AMC Cinemas, The Big Wheel, Piccadilly Gardens, Salford Quays, Printworks, Albert Square & The Green Screen Room. During filming for the video we have only used the Green Screen room & Salford Quays for performances. The reason we have mostly used salford quays is because there is a lot of lights & we can film in different locations within Salford Quays such as on the bridge & infront of Media City. The other locations we have used as a slide show of pics for the beginning of our video.

Here is a couple of pics of our filming locations within Salford Quays;

Videos/Outtakes From Original Ideas

These videos are footage of when our original idea was to have Franck perform as Kanye West.

Outtakes

In most cases of our outtakes it was either the case that the performers forgot the lyrics, got camera shy, started laughing or in a couple of cases people walked past the camera while we were filming.

Final Cut Pro

We will be using a programme called final cut pro for the editing process of our music video. This will enable us to put our shots together on a timeline to make them continous and fit them to the beat of our music which will therefore create our final music video. it will also allow us to add any required special effects to make it appear as a well presented music video and enhance the conventions that we have adapted to create our final product.

Ideas For Backgrounds Of Front, Back & Inside Covers Of The CD Case

Distribution Ideas

The two main ways that would benefit us best from distribution are on low budget music channels such as channel aka, Flava & Stars Tv & by word of mouth. The reason for these choices are that Channel Aka & Stars Tv play alot of music by new & established musicians & they heavily rotate every video that are on their channel. Also making pages & groups on social networking sites such as Facebook & Twitter. This would make our video be seen by thousands of people numerous times a day & could help us to grow a fan base. Spreading by word of mouth is a big way for us to spread the popularity & anticipation of the video. This will increase market sales as numerous amount of people will have heard about the video in different area's, so when it gets released the amount of buyers will be increased. A final way to distribute our music video could be performing in clubs as alot of people go clubbing so that would contribute to word of mouth.

The Camera Used: Legria FS306

We were given this camera to film our music video with.

It's features are:

  • Dynamic mode which enables shooting while on the move as it automatically compensates for camera shake.

  • Quick start & charge - With quick charge: 10min charge time = 30min recording time; your sure to shoot the scenes you want within minutes

  • 41x Advanced Zoom - Canon lens with 41x Advanced zoom for high magnification in crisp and vivid detail

  • Compact & lightweight so you can carry it around anywhere as it only weighs 225g

  • Dual shot so you can record videos & take pictures without switching modes

  • On a 32mb memory card you can record up to 20hrs 50 mins

  • Has a large LCD display that has backlight & brightness controls for greater visability

  • Easily accessible

  • Use of instant playback after filming

Despite all this , the quality of the video's aren't really great.
